New Product Professional Grade Winkler American Winkler [Walnut·Tribal Highland Ax] This design is a Winkler Knives interpretation of the original hand-forged by Daniel Winkler, the master craftsman who became a full-time tool maker in 1988. The utilitarian nature of his forged work was the basis for his early relationship with the American Level 1 Warriors and the origins of Winkler Knives. The company was founded to produce cutting edge tools that had all the attributes of Daniel Winkler's forged creations. Subtle differences such as the tapered tang and the heat treatment of the tang after it was finished grinding resulted in a tool that was comparable in functionality to the tools Winkler created using the heat of the fire and the power of the hammer.
Daniel Winkler specializes in forged grubs and axes made in the American frontier tradition—a time when the tools people carried meant livelihood and survival. The traditional nature of his work is evident in the Winkler Knives designs, but even more so in the new Highland Hatchet and Highland Hunter.
